IAM Official Launch and Trends in Information Governance

Hear the Director-General of the National Archives of Australia, Simon Froude, officially launch IAM 2023 and discuss this year's theme – The Next Wave: Empowering Information Professionals for the Future. The latest trends revealed in the Information Governance Industry Report 2023 are discussed by Susan Bennett, Founder and Executive Director, InfoGovANZ, and Dr Peter Chapman, Partner, Korda Mentha and InfoGovANZ International Council member. This discussion covers a range of areas including:

  • the state of information governance maturity
  • key information governance priorities
  • the impact of privacy law developments on information governance programs; and
  • the impact of high profile data breaches on information lifecycle management initiatives

Privacy Awareness Week panel discussion

The Privacy Commissioners' Panel for #PAW2023 Back to Basics with Australian Information Commissioner and Privacy Commissioner, Angelene Falk, Victorian Information Commissioner Sven Bluemmel, NSW Privacy Commissioner Samantha Gavel, and Queensland Privacy Commissioner, Paxton Booth. The discussion was facilitated by Susan Bennett, InfoGovANZ that covered a wide range of important areas and developments including:

•    the Commonwealth Privacy Act Review Report
•    recent data breaches
•    the over-collection and over-retention of personal information
•    NSW's new mandatory data breach notification scheme, and
•    Qld's Coaldrake report.
