Chinese immigrants and Chinese–Australians in New South Wales
This guide brings together descriptions of numerous records in the National Archives Sydney office relating to Chinese migration and settlement in New South Wales.
The records relate to day-to-day administration of entry and arrival in Australia, as well as wartime security measures such as registration of aliens.
Most records were created after Federation, but there is a small yet significant body of nineteenth-century records created by the Collector of Customs, Sydney.
This guide may interest family historians and researchers of Chinese–Australian history.
