The National Archives has partnered with Google Arts and Culture to present Watching the Waves, a compelling series of images capturing the mid-century coastal lifestyle of our surfers and lifesavers.

Originally taken by the Australian News and Information Bureau, these nostalgic photgraphs are a record of sun-drenched Aussie beach life between the 1950s and 1970s.
