Once upon a time the post office looked after all our postal, telegraph and telephone systems. From stately buildings in cities to rustic shacks in remote regions, post offices were important meeting places and touched everyone’s lives, especially when Australia was at war.

This exhibition focuses on the importance people placed on sending and receiving letters, as well as other forms of communication such as the telephone. It explores the role the post office played in delivering these services over the past 100 years or so.
