Did you know that migration from Malta was once heavily restricted because the Maltese were seen as a threat to 'white Australia'?

Yet, after the Second World War, Malta was one of the first countries with which Australia signed an assisted-migration-passage agreement.

This display explores the intriguing history of Maltese migration to Australia during the twentieth century.

This display is a joint initiative of National Archives of Australia, Public Record Office Victoria and the Maltese Community Council of Victoria Inc.
