COVID-19: Important information about our services

We’ll be reopening our research centres and galleries as COVID-19 restrictions ease in states and territories.

Our Northern Territory office is now welcoming visitors and our Western Australia research centre is due to open on Tuesday 2 June.

Planned opening dates for other research centres are:

  • South Australia – Wednesday 10 June
  • Queensland and New South Wales – Wednesday 17 June

Dates for the Australian Capital Territory, Victoria and Tasmania will be announced soon.

Conditions of entry will vary by office based on site-specific physical distancing measures and requirements set out by state, territory and federal governments. More information will be made available on our visit us page.

Measures we put in place are designed to protect the health and safety of our visitors, clients and staff in line with government advice.

If you are feeling unwell, please postpone your visit. We would love to see you when you are feeling better.

We appreciate your patience and support as we work through this together.

Below are some frequently asked questions about the status of our services and how you can continue to access your National Archives.
