Making connections
Protecting our heritage
To protect Australia's archival heritage, National Archives prepares for emergencies – see MayDay 2008

The National Archives of Australia supports and liaises with a range of professional, industry and education groups.
At the national level, we work closely with these professional and industry bodies:
- the Australian Society of Archivists (ASA)
- the Records Management Association of Australasia (RMAA)
- the Australian Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Material (AICCM)
- Museums Australia (MA)
Two Archives staff are currently members of the National Council of the ASA and the Archives regularly sponsors the annual conferences of both the ASA and the RMAA.
We also work with the higher education sector, providing course advice and participating in Australian Research Council collaborative research and development projects. Universities that have joined forces with the National Archives in recent times include Australian National University, Edith Cowan University, Monash University, RMIT and the University of Melbourne.
The Archives also regularly advises and liaises with other related organisations. We are represented on the National Scholarly Communications Forum, the Records Management Committee IT-21 of Standards Australia, and the Australian Committee for the UNESCO Memory of the World Program.
