Many of the games in the National Archives collection were designed by Christopher George King, a talented artist and illustrator. King was designing games for the National Games Company for around 30 years, from the early 1900s to the late 1920s. He registered each one for copyright including a copy of the game encased in leather-covered boards.

These games gave Australians the opportunity to try new experiences such as flying and motoring when they had little chance of experiencing the real thing.
