The Japanese community in Sydney, New Year's Day 1939

This photograph, showing members of the Japanese community in Sydney coming together to celebrate New Year's Day, was taken by Ichiro Kagiyama on 1 January 1939. It is found in the wartime security investigation file of Tatsumi Ishihara. The Security Service (CA 946) kept these files on people it was investigating during World War II, including 'enemy aliens' and refugees.
