The National Archives is urging Australians to find letters or objects associated with Ethel Bruce, the wife of the nation’s eighth Prime Minister Stanley Melbourne Bruce, whose story forms part of an exhibition opening at the National Archives in Canberra in December.
Ethel Bruce played an important part in supporting her husband’s career, but little original material about her appears to have survived.
Do you know of any objects, papers or ephemera connected to Ethel Bruce? If so, we would like to hear from you. If an important item is found, it will be considered for inclusion in the exhibition Stanley Melbourne Bruce: Prime Minister & Statesman opening 11 December 2009.
