More than 40 photographs made using a rare 8 x 10 inch large-format camera highlight the reality of the physical and social isolation of small town life.

Photographer Martin Mischkulnig exposes the stark landscapes and built ugliness often found in remote areas of Australia. Words by Tim Winton in the exhibition and the accompanying book Smalltown challenge sentimental myths of Australian rural life.
