AGLS Working Group – terms of reference
The AGLS Working Group will:
- be a cross-jurisdictional group representing the interests of all levels of government in Australia
- meet at least twice a year and communicate by email in between meetings
- communicate and consult with metadata practitioners at all levels of government
- guide and promote ongoing development and deployment of the AGLS standard
- make recommendations to the National Archives of Australia on changes to the standard elements in response to input from the metadata community and outcomes of studies of AGLS usage
- recommend changes to the AGLS User Manual
- monitor the development and deployment of extensions to the AGLS by sector specific and whole-of-government online access initiatives to ensure harmonisation and interoperability between various metadata initiatives
- work to encourage the deployment of AGLS compliant online access interfaces on government online access facilities
- develop and pursue suitable training and change management strategies in order to encourage the use of AGLS by government agencies
- work with the vendor community to encourage the development of suitable tools to assist the authoring, capture, storage and interrogation of AGLS metadata
- liaise with the international metadata community and, in particular, participate actively in appropriate DC working groups.
