Appendix I – Consultancies, advertising and market research

The Archives engages consultants when the expertise required is not available within the organisation or when the specialist skills required are not available without diverting resources from other higher-priority tasks. In accordance with procurement guidelines, consultants are selected by advertisement, panel arrangements or select tendering.

During 2007–08, 26 new consultancy contracts were entered into, involving a total actual expenditure of $473,000. In addition, nine ongoing consultancy contracts were active during 2007–08, with a total expenditure of $234,000. The main areas in which consultants were engaged during the year were testing and analysis services.

Advertising and market research amounts paid in 2007–08

Advertising is used to publicise the Archives’ exhibitions and events. No advertising contracts were let in 2007–08. The Archives’ advertising strategies were designed and conceived in-house.

Media advertising organisations paid $1,500 or more(including GST) in 2007–08

Media advertising company hma Blaze was paid $126,280 (including GST) by the Archives in 2007–08. This amount included the cost of advertising in the media.
