Appendix G – Exhibitions program

National Office exhibitions

Max Dupain on Assignment, a photographic exhibition on display from 13 December 2007 to 22 June 2008, was developed by the Archives in partnership with the Noel Butlin Archives Centre at The Australian National University.

Drawing Together: Showcasing the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs Art Collection was on display from 17 May to 15 July 2007 and contained 70 works from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs Art Collection. The exhibition marked the fortieth anniversary of the 1967 referendum that gave the Australian Government the power to make specific laws in relation to Indigenous Australians. It was an initiative of the Archives, the Australian Public Service Commission, the National Museum of Australia and the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.

Wrecked: Tragedy and the Southern Seas, from the South Australian Maritime Museum, was on display from 27 July to 14 October 2007. The exhibition told the story of some of South Australia’s 850 shipwrecks and featured many original objects from the South Australian Maritime Museum’s collection.

The 2007 Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize, from the South Australian Museum, was on display from 25 October to 2 December 2007. The Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize is Australia’s richest prize for natural history art. The exhibition at the Archives featured the winners and highly commended entries.
