Building works at Victorian Archives Centre

As part of a program of building works being conducted by Public Record Office Victoria (PROV) to improve the Victorian Archives Centre in North Melbourne, there will be some disruption to our services from 1 June 2009. This necessary work will ensure that the archival collections of both PROV and the National Archives of Australia stored in the Victorian Archives Centre continue to be preserved in state-of-the-art facilities.

As a result of the building works the Victorian Archives Centre will not be open on Saturdays or Mondays from 1 June 2009 to March 2010. This means that the Victorian Archives Centre Reading Room will be closed to the public on Saturdays and Mondays between 1 June 2009 and March 2010.

During this time the building will continue to be open Tuesdays to Fridays from 9.00am to 4.30pm. We recommend that requests to view records be made prior to visiting.

At the completion of the building works, the Victorian Archives Centre Reading Room will close for two full weeks at 4.30pm on Friday 26 March 2010 and will re-open at 9.00am on Monday 12 April 2010. This closure will allow for a number of redesign initiatives to be implemented.

We apologise for any inconvenience experienced during these closures.
