The official notetaker’s record of the War Cabinet meeting of 4 December 1941

These notes were used to help draft the formal War Cabinet minute recording the fate of the Sydney. The statement that the Sydney’s captain was killed by one of the Kormoran’s first salvos is presumably surmise, the logic being that if the bridge was destroyed, as the interrogation reports of the German prisoners of war suggested, the captain would have been killed.
