Off with his head
Faced with little time to design new stamps for the 1937 coronation of George VI, the Postmaster-General’s Department created a composite photograph using the head of George VI grafted onto the body of Edward VIII. The mockup was rejected by Buckingham Palace in favour of a design using an officially approved portrait.
