Letter – Honouring the dead, 1945

This letter from the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) to the father of Sergeant Cyril Stallard details, among other things, burial arrangements made for the airman after his remains were identified and reinterred at Braine-Le-Comte, Belgium in 1945. The grave inscription which appears on page 2 of this letter can be translated as follows:

Here lie
the bodies of the brave men
who fell on foreign soil
in the service of their country.
[signed] Their unbowed and glorious comrades
