Statement regarding Mabel Wong, 1932

The rights of Australian-born Chinese were different from those born overseas. Australian-born Chinese could use their birth certificates as proof of their status as British subjects. Some Chinese Australians, whose births were not registered, such as Mabel Wong from Darwin, later requested documents to prove they were entitled to remain in Australia.
