Professor John Williams, 'A day in the life': Sergeant Pepper and the Australian Constitution

Professor John Williams talks about the value of commemorating 9 July as Constitution Day. Why is 9 July 1900 the birthday of the nation? Professor Williams talks about the events that led up to 9 July 1900, and gives a lively and detailed account of the day itself and why Australians should pause and reflect on Constitution Day.

Professor Williams is the Associate Dean in the law faculty at the University of Adelaide. He is particularly interested in constitutional law, human rights and Australian legal history, recently publishing The Australian Constitution: A Documentary History.
