Tasmanian railways – Fact sheet 27

The National Archives in Hobart holds an extensive collection of records relating to railway activity in Tasmania. The records, which date from the late nineteenth century onwards, were created by Tasmanian private railway companies, the Tasmanian State Government railways prior to 1978 and the Commonwealth Government from 1978. The records are of value and interest to railway modellers, historians, genealogists and railway organisations. They form a part of Tasmania's records heritage.
