Dr Denver Beanland (Chair)
Dr Denver Beanland, historian, has a Bachelor of Arts with first class honours and a Doctor of Philosophy in history (2008) from the University of Queensland. He is a former Member of the Queensland Parliament was State Attorney-General, Minister for Justice and Minister Responsible for Consumer Affairs; and an Alderman and Vice-Mayor of the Brisbane City Council. He is a Past President (2007-2009) of The Royal Historical Society of Queensland and currently a member of the Society's Council, and Chairman of the Brisbane City Council's Heritage Advisory Committee. Between 2008 and 2013, Dr Beanland was a member of the Brisbane City Council's City Hall Restoration Executive Group that restored City Hall. He has written two books: A Court Apart: The District Court of Queensland a history of the District Court published in 2009, which was commissioned by the Supreme Court of Queensland Library and The Queensland Caesar: Sir Thomas McIlwraith published in 2013, a biography of a three times Premier of colonial Queensland. He is currently writing a publication on the history of the Brisbane City Council and has had many history articles published.
