Ten years after Senator Margaret Reid opened the restored East Block to house the National Archives of Australia, she returned to help celebrate the decade.
The plaque attached to the front of the building reads:
Senator the Hon Margaret Reid
President of the Senate
opened this building for
the National Archives of Australia
on 2 September 1998.
To celebrate the National Archives' occupation of the building for 10 years, Margaret Reid reflected on and spoke about the history of the opening of the Archives building in 1998.
National Archives staff joined the Director-General Ross Gibbs and Margaret Reid on the front steps of the building for photographs.
