The media is invited to attend a reception for the National Archives of Australia Advisory Council at the Western Australian Museum this Thursday 17 November at 5 pm.
It’s the first time the Archives’ Council has met in Perth, with formalities planned for the following day at the Commonwealth parliamentary offices.
The reception will include a walk through the beguiling Archives‘ exhibition, It’s a Dog’s Life:Animals in the Public Service now on show at the WA Museum, and presentations by Dr Ian McLeod, Deputy Director of the Western Australian Museum; Deirdre O’Donnell, State Ombudsman and Chairperson of the State Records Commission; and Anne Lyons, National Archives Assistant Director-General, who will speak about the exhibition.
The Archives Advisory Council comprises Mr Paul Santamaria, SC (chairman), Ms Barbara Belcher, Senator the Hon. John Faulkner, Mr Peter Grant, Mr Ian Hancock, Mr Patrick Morgan, Mr Tony Rutherford, the Hon. Alex Somlyay, MP, Dr Jane Wilson, and Mr Allan Taylor AM.
The Council provides advice to the Minister and the Director-General on matters relating to the functions of the Archives.
