Notice of intention to issue a records disposal freeze in relation to the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry
14 December 2017
On 30 November the Prime Minister announced the Government's intention to establish the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry. The National Archives of Australia intends to issue a records disposal freeze to suspend Archives permissions for the destruction of records that may be required by the Royal Commission and any consequent Government action.
Once the terms of reference for the Royal Commission have been finalised, the Archives will issue a records disposal freeze that targets relevant records that may be required for the Royal Commission and any consequent Government action.
Where the records disposal freeze is relevant, Australian Government agencies are required by law to protect any relevant records subject to this freeze from destruction.
Further information can be obtained by contacting the Archives through the Agency Service Centre.
